AIKO® azaleas constitute a true revolution within the existing azalea range. Their unique full flowers add, when opened, an entirely new dimension to the popular plant. AIKO® azaleas come in white, pink and red and are grown by the members of the Belgian cultivator group Azanova cvba.

AKO® azaleas are only available in the unique and highly recognizable silver-grey pot with reference to the Azanova website. This pot guarantees that the product it contains is the genuine high-quality article. AIKOs are available in various dimensions and pot sizes. In order to guarantee blossom quality, they are only available as of February. AIKO® Pink can be obtained as of February 2011. Aiko® Red and AIKO® White will be available as of spring 2012.

Aiko refers to the name given to the first child of the crown prince Naruhito and crown princess Masako Owada of Japan. In the Japanese kanji script, the character for Aiko is composed of the symbols for ‘love’ and ‘child’, and means a person who loves others. Likewise, AIKO® azaleas make an ideal present for a loved one, not just for special occasions, but also just as a treat for yourself.


Azanova
In 2008, 21 leading azalea growers combined forces to jointly invest in the innovation of the azalea range. They paid a great deal of attention to quality and are always focused on added value for the consumer. In order to achieve this objective, Azanova has set up collaborations with the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries research (ILVO), which has an azalea breeding tradition spanning years. In 2008 Azanova was the laureate of the ‘Innovation campaign of the Centre for Innovation of agriculture and horticulture’. They received the award by virtue of their unique cooperation between various companies and a public research institution.
