Deroose Plants, producer of ornamental plants with headquarters in Evergem, is specialized in breeding of Bromeliaceae; a family of tropical plants of which pineapple is a well-known representative. The plants are multiplied by tissue culture in a sterile lab and then acclimatized to greenhouse conditions before being distributed worldwide to growers who finish the plants for the end consumers. 70% of the assortment are Bromeliads, complemented with orchids, carnivorous plants (Nepenthes) and foliage plants (Spathiphyllum, Papyrus, house bamboo,…)
From a small family business Deroose Plants has evolved to an international company with branches in the United States (Apopka, Florida) and China (Shanghai).
As a result of an elaborate breeding program, Deroose Plants is able to introduce a number of novelties each year. Part of the new varieties is developed internally, but an important share originates in close collaborations with renowned breeders worldwide.

Novelty Guzmania Hope

For this occasion we would like to present Guzmania ‘Hope’, a Fortuna hybrid with an elegant flower shape and compact leaf. ‘Hope’ can be grown in a 9 to 12 cm pot. The contrast between the beautiful red colour and the snow-white tips of the bracts in the hart of the flower give the variety a unique fresh look.
With its ultra straight flower and shorter growing time, Guzmania ‘Hope’ is an improvement of the well known variety Guzmania ‘El Cope’. Next year we expect sales of 400.000 plants worldwide. Breeder’s right is pending for Europe, USA and China.
